Diseases

The HEEROMA BIOMEDICAL database contains over 10.000 scientific publications covering over 100 diseases, symptoms or biological functions which are linked to the endocannabinoid system and are therefore eligible for treatment with cannabinoids. Over 1000 of these publications are clinical trials, demonstrating a therapeutic effect of cannabinoids in 50 diseases. For some diseases, like cystitis (1 trial) or cystic fibrosis (1 trial) this evidence is still weak but nonetheless indicative of the therapeutic potential of cannabinoids. For other diseases, like pain (224 trials) or epilepsy (102 trials) this evidence is substantial. The table below shows the diseases for which cannabinoid treatment was tested in clinical trials. The numbers behind each disease represent the number of trials. Please note that while this graph is indicative of the therapeutic potential of cannabinoids in many diseases, this is not automatically proof of a therapeutic effect.
